A Holiday Drink Favorite

The Christmas season would not be the same without hot cocoa… am I right? We have a recipe that is almost too easy to post about, but it is delicious, and you are more than likely to have all of the ingredients on hand already. Win-Win!

What I love about this recipe is you can easily adjust to taste and accommodate any dietary restrictions too!

Ingredients:
– 1 Cup Organic Whole Milk (or any milk you prefer, I think this recipe tastes best with Coconut Milk as a dairy alternative)
– 1 Tablespoon Organic Maple Syrup
– 1 Tablespoon Organic Cacao Powder (Organic Cocoa Powder works perfectly too!)
– 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract (I personally like a lot of Vanilla Extract, reduce if needed)
– Pinch of Salt

Directions:
1. Combine the milk in a saucepan over medium heat.
2. Once warmed, add in Maple Syrup and Cacao Powder and whisk until smooth and hot.
3. Add in Vanilla Extract and your pinch of salt, remove from heat and serve immediately.

So easy, right? Not to mention it takes less than five minutes from start to finish. We also like to add homemade whipped cream to the top of ours. Not necessary, but 100% beats store-bought chemical-filled whipped cream or marshmallows. Or, try adding your favorite candy cane to the hot cocoa… it brings it to the next level.
