Weekend Wellness | No. 9

Hi, Friends! We are back with another Weekend Wellness post. Today, we thought we would talk a little about books. What we are reading, what’s on our TBR list, what we love. We will try to do this semi-regularly since both of us are bookworms. Life can often get so busy, so taking the time to slow down and read a book is a wonderful form of self-care. So… What have we been reading lately?

Alisha: As a bibliophile, I have to admit, I am quite embarrassed to admit my lack of reading as of late. Life has been a bit chaotic personally, so I have not been able to dedicate the time I would like to read. I have finished a few books recently, including this one, which would make a great beach read. As a warning, there are a few too many swear words for my preference, but it is a quick and easy read if you can get over that. Confession: I love feel-good chick-lit. I just can’t help myself sometimes. To be completely honest, with how busy life has been, the only book I have been reading is my Bible, which is my favorite read of all time, to be honest. Each time I read it, I find something new, dig deeper, or gain an understanding I didn’t have before. For those that know me personally… I may or may not have a Bible hoarding problem. I love Bibles, we have multiple shelves in our home dedicated to them. If you ever have questions about translations, my personal preferences, or any other questions, I am more than happy to answer them! Shoot us an email at forgetmenotwellness@outlook.com.

I received a notice from our local library that a book I had requested was ready to be picked up called “The Lady’s Mine” – I have not started it yet, but, Francine Rivers rarely disappoints. This got me thinking of other books by Francine Rivers I have enjoyed. My favorite (as of today) from Francine Rivers is a tie between “The Masterpiece” and “Redeeming Love” these both have very different feels, but both are great reads! Another recommendation from Francine Rivers is “Bridge to Haven“. Another author I enjoy is Beatriz Williams. A few years ago, a group of my girlfriends and I read “A Hundred Summers” which I adored and highly recommend.

Tricia: I am currently reading “Atomic Love” This one has a very slow start, but is getting good! The author has a really good story in the beginning about why she wrote it and a little truth behind the book. While both Alisha and I prefer old-fashioned paperback books, I couldn’t write a post without mentioning one of my favorite apps, Libby. You upload your library credentials and then can read online books from your tablet or phone. It is so convenient for busy moms, not to mention you can take it anywhere with you! If you have not been taking advantage of this app, please, if you take nothing else away, get this app! You will love it! Another book I really enjoyed was The Nightingale. I would recommend that one if you have not read that one yet!

Okay, that’s enough recommendations for one day. What have you read and enjoyed? Any genres you are particularly interested in? Should we start a book club? We will absolutely have another book post coming again soon, we just can’t help ourselves. ha! Have a great weekend, enjoy the outdoors and time together with loved ones!

Stay Well,
Tricia + Alisha
